OOBE[edit]

I know that 2223 is the earliest build to include OOBE, but it is not usable before build 2416. Is it possible, through registry hacking and the like, to launch OOBE in earlier builds (like KenOath did for 2257)? Tau Ceti (talk) 22:50, 20 March 2015 (GMT)

The early Whistler OOBEs, as far as I can tell, are just really a hack of the Windows Me OOBE. If you can, try using sysprep, else, try msoobe /f User99672 (talk) 16:40, 21 March 2015 (GMT)
That explains why they look so much like Windows Me! Thank you. I will try on build 2257. Tau Ceti (talk) 23:10, 21 March 2015 (GMT)
Also note: The Windows Whistler startup sound is a hoax. Whistler has the 2000 sounds and the fake one is just the 2000 one reversed. Tau Ceti (talk) 23:12, 21 March 2015 (GMT)
If you're talking to me lol, I've known all of that for ages...I also wrote a whole guide to the Windows Me OOBE on BA...I've been doing the "beta scene" thing a few more years....lol [1] User99672 (talk) 01:16, 23 March 2015 (GMT)
I wasn't talking to you... And I used that guide to install Windows Me several times. Tau Ceti (talk) 06:59, 23 March 2015 (GMT)
a bit difficult when there's literally nobody else in this discussion. Let's reference ea. other by username in the future perhaps? By that, I mean, wiki-wide. User99672 (talk) 17:15, 23 March 2015 (GMT)
@Tau Ceti Yes, the longhorn sounds is a hoax too... XP had 2000 sounds until 2481, and Vista until a pre-rc1 build (IDK which one). As for the OOBE, it doesn't suprise me if it's taken from ME, as much stuff in Neptune too as well as Whistler is from ME, e.g. the Help and Support prototype...--Ovctvct (talk) 19:02, 23 March 2015 (GMT)
Yes, and the Neptune activity centres actually say 'Windows Millennium'. The vista build you mean is 5536.16384 (I believe). Tau Ceti (talk) 10:26, 24 March 2015 (GMT)

Your 'contributions'[edit]

are literally crap. You have absolutely no skills what so ever. All you've done for the year or so you've been in the beta scene, is parrot and copy people (usually me!), and reword it so it looks like it's a valid contribution. You have literally plagiarized from longhorn.ms, and poorly to boot! The Windows 3.0 ISV article? You copied and pasted from the Interface Manager DR5 article and changed a few words around.

What does the main page say?

It's not advised to copy and paste content from other sites. Please do your own research and write the article in your own words.

Please, put some effort into the articles. People visiting BetaWiki will more appreciate longer, more interesting articles than articles with just a one sentence long description of the build.

If you did what you do online at school, you would be expelled. Don't even think about going to a university if this is all you are capable of doing, you'll be laughed out the door. User99672 (talk) 07:39, 11 May 2015 (BST)

Let's review your statement.
>> All you've done for the year or so you've been in the beta scene, is parrot and copy people (usually me!), and reword it so it looks like it's a valid contribution.
I don't copy people all the time. Remember that case when I found the "devdmo" in 4067's buildtag was actually davidmo?
>>You have literally plagiarized from longhorn.ms, and poorly to boot!
I apologize. I promise to never do that again. Also, saying I have no knowledge of programming... I am currently working on my own HTML website (and no, it's not a forum).
>>The Windows 3.0 ISV article?
That looks so invalid to me. The 2.01 article is also based on the same layout of the DR5 article. It's not advised to copy and paste content from other sites...
I didn't C&P it, I reworded it as your post says.
>>all you are capable of doing
I am capable of doing much more. I found the ZoSo image in 3.00.55's winver, but before I searched I didn't know there was already a post about it.
>>User99672 (talk) 07:39, 11 May 2015 (BST)
One final note, there is no mention of Interface Manager in DR5, only Windows. On a site note, I'm working on a new recreation of Win 3.1.034e missing disk 2. Would that be considered 'crap' by your standards?
Not taking this as an attack to you, just something I'd like to say. --InfinityPlus1 (talk) 19:16, 11 May 2015 (BST)
>I don't copy people all the time. Remember that case when I found the "devdmo" in 4067's buildtag was actually davidmo?
You do enough of the time that it's concerning.
>I apologize. I promise to never do that again. Also, saying I have no knowledge of programming... I am currently working on my own HTML website (and no, it's not a forum).
Okay, okay, okay. Stop right there. What in God's name where you thinking?! "I have no skill in programming, therefore I'm going to write an article which requires that skill, and expect people to take me seriously." I have no further comments about that, just try to think over *why* that makes no sense. If you expect to remain in the information technology industry, start programming. Also, HTML is NOT enough. If you want to do serious web development, you will *have* to learn CSS, and JavaScript. Down the road, php, AJAX, JSP (which by itself is an extension of Java)
>The Windows 3.0 ISV article? That looks so invalid to me. The 2.01 article is also based on the same layout of the DR5 article. It's not advised to copy and paste content from other sites... I didn't C&P it, I reworded it as your post says.
I'm not entirely sure I understand your argument here....Either way, this site is not a tutorial on how to use DOS. Fuck, that 'tutorial' from the DR5 page should be removed. DOS really is not hard to learn. Computing is not served on a silver platter, some knowledge has to be acquired, rather than treating everyone like 3 year old children having their hands held. It's low effort, it's not even your own words, and it does nothing for the article than say "you're too stupid to learn DOS."
>I am capable of doing much more. I found the ZoSo image in 3.00.55's winver, but before I searched I didn't know there was already a post about it.
*jaw drops* Are you for real? You found out that someone from Microsoft likes Led Zeppelin! So impressive! My first computer came with a tool to create a hidden restore partition, and it was called ZZTOP.EXE. It was a DELL computer. DELL is located in Texas. Hmmm sounds familiar, where have I heard 'ZZ-Top' before, oh yeah, they're a band. Where is the band 'ZZ-Top' from? Houston, Texas. SO therefore, there are probably ZZ-Top fans who work for DELL! Granted I know you don't like Rock, but...Do I get an award for deducing that? Not really. Further, opening a file in ResHack is not a skill. I can't find the article now due to people changing their usernames, but winocm/Kenneth wrote an excellent page on why doing shit like replacing graphical resources as part of a 'customization' project is an awful idea. If I /so/ wanted, I could write a script to extract every fucking graphical resource from every executable on BA FTP. Granted /getting/ all that content would take a significant amount of time but...No. That's not special. At all. Any moron can do that. I mean for fuck's sake, there are countless number of pop culture references in the Age of Empires Tribe Alpha, ranging from South Park to the Simpsons, to Looney Tunes, to popular movies in the 90s. You think the stupid Led Zeppelin image is impressive? Hahahahahaha. Try well over a thousand audio clips that Microsoft certainly did not license.
>One final note, there is no mention of Interface Manager in DR5, only Windows.
Ugh, and I thought *I* was pedantic. It is a well accepted fact that Interface Manager was the codename for Windows 1.0...
>On a site note, I'm working on a new recreation of Win 3.1.034e missing disk 2. Would that be considered 'crap' by your standards?
No, I wouldn't write that off as useless or crap yet. What's the big difference between yours and Battler's?
Review #2
>If you expect to remain in the information technology industry, start programming.
I know that already, demonstrated earlier when you criticized one my Longhorn VoteNow post.
>F***, that 'tutorial' from the DR5 page should be removed. DOS really is not hard to learn.
I agree with removing tutorial cruft. This site is not Howcast, and it's not that hard to use TCB or Google to find the information you want. I do have some knowledge of MS-DOS and I should also learn Q-Basic, etc in order for me to write programs for DOS.
>*jaw drops and then snipped*
Then what about those icons that JaGoTu found in WINDOWS.RES from DR5? Or my method for extracting icons from NT 1991 executables?
>No, I wouldn't write that off as useless or crap yet. What's the big difference between yours and Battler's?
Some files from 043e and a bootscreen saying Beta 1. --InfinityPlus1 (talk) 22:16, 11 May 2015 (BST)
OK, OK, OK. Tau Ceti (talk) 10:24, 12 May 2015 (BST)
JaGoTu reverse engineered a barely documented format, you didn't, and link to the 1991 article? Additionally, that is a vague as hell description of your changes. User99672 (talk) 20:39, 13 May 2015 (BST)

Warning[edit]

Recently, someone that I have no idea who he is has created a "BRANDON PIMENTA" forum, with several fake accounts with my aliases, like "BRANDON SKY" and "INFINITY PLUS ONE". I must say officially is is not my forum and is a pure act to hate me on the net. Due to not being an admin there I couldn't see the IP address of this person, but he is impersonating me using this forum as well as spamming links to it on my ClassicBeta wiki, among others. In addition, a "BRANDON PIMENTA" impersonator account magically appeared on both SoftHistory and BetaArchive. The SoftHistory one has been banned but the BA one is not banned yet. Thanks for reading, The real Brandon Pimenta. --InfinityPlus1 (talk) 06:40, 14 May 2015 (BST)

Ah I just saw that, BTW he spammed your userpage with a link to his damn [censored] forum. I think a sysop should protect your userpage, and also ban that IP. --Ovctvct (talk) 15:47, 14 May 2015 (BST)

ClassicBeta[edit]

There has been a vandal attack, but I reverted it. It looks like there are more impersonator accounts coming round. Tau Ceti (talk) 08:11, 25 May 2015 (BST)
